Sweet Sandesh

The most delicious and easily made Indian Dessert - "Sandesh"

Here is the list of Ingredients and this will make around 15 Sandesh :)

  • 1/2 - 1 cup - Fresh Paneer (I  made the Paneer at home)
  • 10-12 strings of Saffron (Kesar)
  • 7-8 Sliced Pistachios
  • 2 tbsp - Cardamom Powder
  • 1/3 cup - Sugar (Usually it takes less than that)

How to Make Paneer:

Heat the milk and let it come to the boil. Add lime juice (around 1 whole lime) and stir in between

You can see the Paneer has started forming leaving the water aside.

Strain the Paneer into the Muslin Cloth and wash it with the cold water. This will leave behind the lime fragrance. Squeeze the muslin cloth tightly to remove the excess water from Paneer

This is how it will look after doing the above exercise :)
How to make Sandesh
Knead the Paneer very well with your fingers to make it soft like a dough.
Kesar, Cardamom powder, pitas and sugar - kept aside.

Mix all the above ingredients (except Pista) in the Paneer and knead well again. Once mixed, we need to fry it for around 3-4 minutes on a slow flame. (I forgot to take the picture, it will form like a dough)

Just like how we make Rasgulla or Rasmalai Gullas, prepare the same and give it a design of your choice. If require, you can grease your hands with ghee (Clarified butter) and garnish it again with the cardamom powder, pista and saffron.

Happy Eating :)

  1. Pls share how to fry? Oil or sugar syrup

    1. Hi Ambika,

You do not need to fry too much. Just put the paneer mixture into the pan and stir it on LOWER FLAME for 4 minutes only. That's it and done!
